London: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his frustration on Thursday regarding the economic repercussions stemming from international political decisions, specifically pointing to the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump. Starmer accused these leaders of contributing to energy price volatility that is significantly affecting households and businesses in the UK.

According to Anadolu Agency, Starmer, during a visit to the Middle East, spoke to ITV News, emphasizing the growing discontent over the instability of energy bills faced by families and businesses. “I’m fed up with the fact that families across the country see their bills go up and down on energy, businesses’ bills go up and down on energy because of the actions of Putin or Trump across the world,” he stated.

His comments arrive amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions that are influencing global energy markets, particularly involving Iran and the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Starmer also addressed the issue of Israeli strikes on Lebanon amid a ceasefire with Iran, asserting that such actions should cease on principle. “But let me be really clear about it. They’re wrong … That shouldn’t be happening. That should stop,” he remarked.

Starmer further elaborated on the complexity of the situation, noting the challenges in assessing breaches of the ceasefire due to limited access to details. He emphasized the principled stance rather than a technical evaluation of the ceasefire agreement’s breach.
