Building Collapse in Pakistan Claims 15 Lives

Karachi: A residential building collapsed in southeastern Pakistan, resulting in the deaths of 15 people and injuring several others, local media reported Saturday. The incident took place in a five-story building located in Karachi, a city in the Sindh province, which collapsed on Friday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Dawn newspaper reported that the building had been declared uninhabitable by authorities due to its deteriorating structure. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza stated that the building's condition had been further compromised by recent rains.

Rescue teams worked through the night at the collapse site to search for survivors and recover bodies. Police surgeon Summaiya Syed confirmed that no injured person was reported after 3 pm local time (1000GMT) on Friday, indicating that the number of injured individuals remained at nine since Friday.
