Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Urges Diplomatic Efforts to End Ukraine Conflict

Tivat: Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev has called for stronger diplomatic measures to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, cautioning that the risks of escalation are growing. Speaking at the EU-Western Balkans summit in Tivat, Montenegro, Radev emphasized the challenges Europe faces in confronting Russia, the world's largest nuclear power.

According to Anadolu Agency, Radev pointed out that Europe has been attempting to secure a conventional victory against Russia, a strategy he believes is fraught with risk. He stressed the importance of all countries contributing to peace initiatives and supporting efforts to end the conflict.

Radev highlighted Europe's current inability to counter Russia's hypersonic weapons, noting that this inadequacy poses significant security threats. He warned that such an approach amplifies the nuclear risk and urged for a shift in focus toward diplomatic solutions.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister underscored the necessity of welcoming any efforts toward a negotiated settlement, regardless of their origin. He reiterated that the priority should be finding a path to peace, rather than extending the conflict.
