Phnom penh: Cambodia will implement military conscription next year, Prime Minister Hun Manet stated on Monday. The conscription law, which was originally promulgated on December 22, 2006, has not yet been enforced.
According to Anadolu Agency, before the enforcement of the conscription law, it will undergo significant legislative revisions. These revisions are expected to focus primarily on the duration of mandatory service. The conscription period is anticipated to extend to two years for all Cambodian citizens aged between 18 and 30. Meanwhile, for women, military service will continue to remain voluntary.
