Ottawa: Canada and a coalition of European and allied nations have voiced concern over the rising hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel, calling on all parties to adhere to the ceasefire and avoid actions that could further destabilize Lebanon.

According to Anadolu Agency, a joint statement from the foreign ministers of Canada, Australia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden, along with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, emphasized the importance of "maximum restraint" and the protection of civilians. The statement expressed profound concern over the continued escalation of hostilities in Lebanon and welcomed ongoing efforts to implement the ceasefire.

The ministers expressed support for the Lebanese government's initiatives to enhance state authority across the country in alignment with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which includes strengthening state institutions and security forces. They also called for the disarmament of Hezbollah, urging the group to cease its attacks on Israel.

Simultaneously, the signatories urged Israel to respect Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, highlighting the necessity for all parties to adhere to international law, including international humanitarian law. The statement specifically called on Israel to stop its military escalation and respect Lebanon's sovereignty.

The ministers encouraged ongoing diplomatic engagement, including efforts led by the United States and international partners, aimed at achieving a negotiated path toward long-term stability and security for both Lebanon and Israel. They underscored the right of the people of Lebanon and Israel to live in peace, security, and dignity, free from the threat of renewed conflict.
