Tel Aviv: A cease-fire agreement between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah is expected to be announced within two days, according to reports from Israeli media on Monday. The public broadcaster KAN has indicated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a US-backed cease-fire with Lebanon. According to Anadolu Agency, Netanyahu has given US envoy Amos Hochstein the green light to proceed with the cease-fire deal with Lebanon. KAN reported that the announcement of the deal is anticipated within two days. Israeli sources have claimed that the cease-fire deal with Lebanon is already arranged, and Netanyahu is now strategizing its presentation to the public. KAN further reported that current discussions are centered on Israel's ability to operate freely along the borders with Lebanon and Syria once the agreement is finalized. The broadcaster, citing well-informed sources, stated that Tel Aviv has received US assurances permitting Israel to take military action if Hezbollah breaches the terms of the cease-fire. There has been no response from Hezbollah or Lebanese authorities regarding the report. Last week, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem mentioned that the Lebanese group had provided feedback on the US cease-fire proposal, emphasizing that the resolution depends on Netanyahu's commitment to reaching an agreement. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified, with Israel increasing airstrikes in Lebanon targeting what it identifies as Hezbollah sites. This escalation is part of a prolonged conflict with the Lebanese group since the onset of the Gaza war last year. Lebanese health authorities report that over 3,600 people have been killed, more than 15,300 injured, and over a million displaced due to Israeli attacks in Lebanon since October last year. Israel further expanded the conflict with a ground assault into southern Lebanon on October 1 this year.
