Tehran: Iran announced on Monday that a ceasefire agreement with the United States encompasses “all fronts, including Lebanon,” and warned against any violations by the US and Israel, stating they would be responsible for the ensuing consequences.

According to Anadolu Agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized on the social media platform X that the ceasefire is comprehensive and that any breach on one front equates to a breach on all fronts. Araghchi’s statement comes amid heightened tensions in the region, underscoring Iran’s stance on the US-mediated ceasefire.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, reiterated early on Monday that Tehran is prepared to assist Lebanon in resisting what he described as Israel’s “illegal aggression.” This declaration follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s directive for the military to conduct airstrikes in Beirut, marking a renewed escalation despite the ceasefire that has been in place since April 17.

Middle Eastern tensions have been intensifying since February when the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran, prompting retaliatory actions from Tehran against Israel and US allies in the Gulf, including the strategic closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

A temporary ceasefire was established on April 8 through mediation by Pakistan, but further negotiations in Islamabad have yet to yield a permanent resolution.
