Brussels: The US has dismissed allegations that Iran fired warning shots at US warships in the Gulf of Oman, asserting that Iranian forces did not compel American vessels to move toward the Indian Ocean.

According to Anadolu Agency, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) addressed the situation through a statement on US social media platform X, labeling Iran's claims as false. CENTCOM clarified that Iranian forces did not engage or fire at US Navy warships, emphasizing that such actions would breach the ceasefire. The US maintains that its forces continue to operate freely in regional waters while enforcing the blockade against Iran.

The US response followed an earlier statement by the Iranian Army, which claimed that Iran's Navy had launched warning shots using missiles and drones directed at US destroyers in the Sea of Oman, allegedly forcing them to retreat. The Iranian Army's public relations office justified the action as part of ongoing operations countering what it termed as US harassment at sea and the detention of Iranian commercial and oil tankers.

The Iranian statement specified that Qadir missiles and Shahed Danesh offensive drones were deployed against the destroyers DDG-103 and DDG-87.
