Chemical Plant Explosion in Lyon Injures Six, Investigation Underway

Lyon: Six workers were injured late Monday following an explosion at the Elkem Silicones chemical plant in the Saint-Fons commune of Lyon in eastern France, the Lyon prosecutor's office informed broadcaster BFMTV on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the explosion resulted in injuries to six employees, with three of them suffering severe burns and currently in serious condition. Authorities have initiated an investigation for 'unintentional injuries caused by a legal entity resulting in incapacity exceeding three months.'

The prosecutor's office indicated that the specialized organized crime division, alongside the departmental directorate for employment, labor, and solidarity, have been assigned to jointly investigate the causes and circumstances surrounding the explosion.
