China Affirms Commitment to Global Energy Security Post Xi-Trump Summit

Beijing: China on Friday expressed its readiness to collaborate with nations worldwide to ensure global energy security and uphold stable industrial and supply chains. This announcement follows high-level discussions between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump in Beijing.

According to Anadolu Agency, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun addressed inquiries regarding potential agreements on US oil purchases during the summit. Guo emphasized that the immediate focus is on restoring peace and stability in the Gulf and the broader Middle East. "China is willing to work with all parties to jointly safeguard global energy security and the stability of industrial and supply chains," he conveyed to reporters.

When asked about discussions on artificial intelligence cooperation during the summit, Guo highlighted China's support for international collaboration in AI, advocating for an "open and inclusive" approach to technological advancement. He stated, "China has always advocated for all parties to work together to promote openness and inclusiveness in AI and foster benevolent development that serves the common good."

Addressing queries on US semiconductor export controls and rare-earth supplies, Guo reiterated China's longstanding stance on these matters. He underscored Beijing's commitment to maintaining the stability and security of global supply chains. "China has repeatedly stated its principled position on US chip exports to China," Guo remarked, without confirming if this issue was directly discussed by the two leaders.

Guo also refrained from providing details on any new agreements concerning rare-earth exports, noting that China had already disseminated relevant information about the summit. The remarks followed a day after Xi and Trump engaged in extensive talks in Beijing, focusing on trade, strategic stability, technology, and regional security issues.
