Beijing: China on Tuesday called for enhanced security cooperation among Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states during a meeting in Beijing.

According to Anadolu Agency, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with leaders of foreign delegations during the 20th Meeting of Secretaries of the Security Councils of SCO nations. Han stated that Beijing has advocated a 'common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security concept' that has been supported by various countries.

He highlighted China's willingness to collaborate with all SCO member states to uphold multilateralism and achieve lasting security. Han emphasized the importance of the spirit of the rule of law to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Furthermore, Han expressed Beijing's readiness to uphold equality and solidarity for common governance, deepen cooperation, and enhance capacity to further the SCO's role in maintaining security and stability.

Representing the foreign delegations, Kazakhstan Security Council Secretary Nurda Uletov and Belarusian Security Council State Secretary Volfovich conveyed their gratitude for China's role as the current rotating chair of the SCO. They also expressed their enthusiasm for collaborating to address security challenges.

The SCO, an intergovernmental organization, was established in Shanghai on June 15, 2001, by six countries: the People's Republic of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
