Ankara: China has lodged a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against the United States following the US decision to impose an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods, as announced by the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday. According to Anadolu Agency, the US announced the new tariffs on Saturday, a move that Beijing argues breaches WTO rules and exemplifies unilateralism and trade protectionism. The Ministry of Commerce's spokesperson stated that these tariffs threaten the rules-based multilateral trading system, negatively impact China-US economic cooperation, and disrupt global supply chains. China has called on the US to "correct" its actions immediately, reiterating its commitment to safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests. The spokesperson further emphasized China's position as a proponent of the multilateral trading system and expressed a readiness to work with other WTO members to challenge unilateralism and trade protectionism. This complaint comes in the wake of a series of ta riffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on Chinese imports. In retaliation, Beijing has levied additional tariffs on US goods, including a 15% duty on coal and liquefied natural gas, and a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery, and large vehicles.
