Istanbul: China on Monday successfully launched a new remote sensing satellite from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site located in the southern province of Hainan.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Yaogan-46 satellite was launched at 11.47 am (0347GMT) aboard China's homegrown Long March-7 carrier rocket and entered its planned orbit.

This satellite will be primarily utilized in disaster prevention and relief, land resource surveys, hydrology, meteorology, and other related fields.

This launch marked the 605th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.
