Ankara: China on Wednesday expressed its willingness to explore peaceful reunification with Taiwan, while also reserving the right to use force if necessary. State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokeswoman Zhu Fenglian conveyed this message, emphasizing the hope that the majority of Taiwanese people will oppose the ruling Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) authorities.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zhu Fenglian criticized the DPP's stance on historical events, particularly its denial of the Communist Party's role in the War of Resistance against Japan during World War II. Zhu described this as a betrayal of the Chinese nation and its heroic martyrs.

Further addressing Taiwan's defense strategies, Zhu noted Taiwan's plans to increase its defense budget next year. She argued that such actions align Taiwan with secessionist agendas, posing a threat to the safety and interests of its people. Additionally, Zhu condemned military collaborations between Taiwan and the United States, particularly highlighting the involvement of over 500 Taiwanese military personnel in the US Northern Strike drills.

Zhu asserted China's firm opposition to any military connections between the US and Taiwan, reiterating Beijing's stance on the issue.
