Tianjin: Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang emphasized on Tuesday that Beijing's close cooperation with Vietnam is advantageous for both the region and the world. During a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Minh Chinh, in north China's Tianjin municipality, Li highlighted the significance of this collaboration at the 'Summer Davos' international annual meeting.
According to Anadolu Agency, Li Qiang remarked that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two Asian countries. He noted the enduring friendship of "comrades and brothers" between China and Vietnam, which has remained strong over time. Li underscored the comprehensive strategic cooperation between the nations amid increasing instability and uncertainty in the current international climate.
Li stressed the importance of enhancing strategic communication and cooperation between China and Vietnam, indicating that such collaboration benefits not only the two countries but also the broader region and the world. He also expressed China's willingness to advance cooperation in areas like artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and green development.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, in turn, emphasized Vietnam's readiness to strengthen high-level exchanges with China, enhance political mutual trust, improve strategic communication, and promote practical cooperation. This meeting followed Chinese President Xi Jinping's official visit to Vietnam in April, amidst escalating regional tensions and a trade conflict with the United States.
China has been Vietnam's largest trading partner for over twenty years, with bilateral trade volume exceeding $260 billion last year. Meanwhile, Vietnam faces 46% import tariffs from the US administration, adding to the complexity of its international trade landscape.
In a separate meeting in Tianjin, Li Qiang also engaged with Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev. Both leaders emphasized the importance of developing China-Kyrgyzstan relations and committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation.
