Beijing: Two former Chinese defense ministers were sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve on Thursday over graft charges. Wei Fenghe and Li Shangfu were separately sentenced by a Chinese military court, as reported by the state-run news agency Xinhua.

According to Anadolu Agency, Wei was convicted of accepting bribes, while Li faced charges for both accepting and offering bribes. Both men held positions as former members of the Central Military Commission and were former state councilors. In addition to their sentences, they were stripped of political rights for life, and all personal assets will be confiscated.

Under the court's ruling, neither Wei nor Li will be eligible for further commutation or parole. Their sentences will be reduced to life imprisonment after the expiration of the two-year reprieve period, in accordance with Chinese law.
