China’s Leading Ship Financing Hub Celebrates Leasing of 1,000th Vessel

Tianjin: China's largest ship financing hub has achieved a significant milestone by leasing its 1,000th vessel, a floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility. This development marks a pivotal moment for the Dongjiang Free Trade Port Zone (DFTP), located in the northern municipality of Tianjin.

According to Anadolu Agency, the signing ceremony to commemorate this accomplishment was conducted with notable attention in Tianjin, where the DFTP is situated. The landmark vessel, constructed in Singapore, represents a total investment of nearly $1.8 billion. Out of this, approximately $1.2 billion was secured through leasing-based financing, underscoring the scale of the financial operation.

Shi Jinfeng, an official from DFTP, described the deal as a significant advancement in China's offshore ship leasing industry. He highlighted that it is the largest cross-border syndicated leasing project on the Chinese mainland to date, considering both the financing scale and the number of participants involved.

The DFTP is currently responsible for over 90% of mainland China's cross-border leasing activity that involves ships and offshore engineering equipment, reinforcing its position as a leader in the industry.
