Beirut: Chinese President Xi Jinping engaged in a telephone conversation with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, reaffirming China's commitment to enhancing strategic coordination with Brazil and bolstering cooperation within the BRICS framework and the Global South.

According to Anadolu Agency, the discussion underscored the importance of deepening strategic ties between China and Brazil at both bilateral and multilateral levels. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning shared on her official X account that Xi emphasized the continuation of efforts to build a China-Brazil community with a shared future.

Xi Jinping highlighted the necessity for China and Brazil to collaborate in advancing the high-quality development of BRICS and to forge new pathways in uniting for strength within the Global South. He acknowledged Brazil's significant international status and influence, offering China's support in safeguarding Brazilian sovereignty and independence, and opposing external interference. This support extends to Brazil's role in maintaining regional and global peace and stability, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

China and Brazil, as founding members of BRICS, continue to play pivotal roles in the expansion of the bloc, which has seen an increase in members and, consequently, its global economic and political influence.
