China’s Xi Jinping Commits to Enhanced UN Collaboration and Global Peace Initiatives

Shanghai: Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced plans to intensify China's cooperation with the United Nations, emphasizing support for global peace and development. This declaration was made during a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who is currently in Shanghai for the 2026 World AI Conference and a High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance.

According to Anadolu Agency, Xi Jinping praised Guterres for his leadership over the past decade, highlighting his efforts in upholding multilateralism, addressing global challenges such as climate change, and advancing governance in emerging fields like artificial intelligence. The Chinese Foreign Ministry released a statement expressing China's appreciation for Guterres' work in promoting UN reform and tackling international issues.

Xi underscored China's commitment to collaborating with the UN to foster a community with a shared future for humanity. He remarked on the increasing instability and uncertainty that the international community faces, advocating for genuine multilateralism and the revitalization of the UN's role. Xi urged nations to uphold fairness, justice, and the principles of the UN Charter, while addressing global challenges through innovation and proactive measures.

President Xi called on major powers to take greater responsibility, promote peaceful coexistence, and contribute to global stability. In response, Secretary-General Guterres affirmed the UN's intention to bolster cooperation with China, oppose unilateralism and protectionism, and safeguard the common interests of the international community, while promoting multipolarity and adherence to international law.
