Seoul: China's President Xi Jinping is reportedly planning to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit later this year in South Korea, while US President Donald Trump has yet to make a decision.

According to Anadolu Agency, the report was based on details shared by journalist Jeong Kyu-jae following his Friday luncheon with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, which Jeong later discussed on his YouTube channel.

'Xi Jinping will visit the APEC summit in Gyeongju,' Jeong quoted President Lee as saying. However, Lee also noted that a decision from US President Donald Trump regarding his attendance has not been confirmed yet. The 2025 APEC summit is scheduled to take place in the South Korean city of Gyeongju between late October and early November.

Additionally, President Lee is still deliberating whether to attend China's military parade in September, marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Jeong stated that Lee is carefully considering his attendance, given historical tensions. Former South Korean President Park Geun-hye faced criticism from Washington after attending a similar parade in 2015.
