Beijing: China's President Xi Jinping on Monday emphasized the necessity of global support for the advancement of women, stating it as a collective duty of the international community. In a significant gesture, he pledged $10 million to the United Nations fund dedicated to this cause.

According to Anadolu Agency, Xi proposed four key initiatives to bolster the global women's agenda. These initiatives include building a wider consensus, opening broader pathways, and taking more practical actions to support women's development. His remarks were made during the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women in Beijing, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing in 1995.

Xi acknowledged the ongoing complex challenges faced by women's development worldwide. He advocated for the joint establishment of a governance pattern to protect women's rights and interests and proposed writing a new chapter in promoting global women's cooperation.

In his address, Xi outlined China's commitment over the next five years, which includes donating an additional $10 million to UN Women. Furthermore, China plans to allocate $100 million from the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund to collaborate with international organizations on projects aimed at enhancing the development of women and girls.

Xi also announced China's support for 1,000 "small and beautiful" livelihood projects targeting women and girls as priority beneficiaries. Additionally, he stated plans to invite 50,000 women to China for exchange and training programs. Furthermore, China intends to establish a center focused on promoting global women's capacity-building, which will facilitate cooperation with relevant countries and international organizations to nurture more outstanding female professionals.
