Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed gratitude to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for the hospitality during his recent state visit to North Korea, describing the trip as a success and a milestone in bilateral relations, as reported by state-run media.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kim received a message from Xi expressing gratitude on behalf of the Chinese government, the Communist Party of China, and the Chinese people. Xi highlighted the warm welcome arranged by Kim, his wife Ri Sol Ju, and North Korea's government and citizens, emphasizing the deep traditional friendship between the two socialist nations.

Xi noted that during the visit, he and Kim engaged in extensive discussions on issues of mutual interest, resulting in a series of important agreements. These discussions reportedly added 'new contents of the times' to China-North Korea relations, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation, promoting development, and maintaining regional peace and stability.

The Chinese leader expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the visit and confidence that the ties between Beijing and Pyongyang have entered a 'new historic journey.' Xi also expressed a desire for another meeting with Kim, aiming to further deepen bilateral relations and contribute to global peace and development.

Xi returned to Beijing on Tuesday following the rare two-day state visit to Pyongyang, marking his first visit to North Korea in nearly seven years. During the visit, both leaders pledged to strengthen bilateral ties and advance relations into a 'new era.'
