Chinese Foreign Minister Urges US Caution on Taiwan During Call with Rubio

Ankara: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged the US to act cautiously on Taiwan while calling for stable ties in a phone call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday. Wang emphasized the significant implications of the Taiwan issue, urging Washington to handle it with enhanced prudence, as reported by state news agency Xinhua on Wednesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Wang Yi highlighted the necessity for China and the US to remove interference, overcome obstacles, and steer towards a constructive bilateral relationship rooted in strategic stability. He noted that such a relationship aligns with the aspirations of both nations' peoples, meets international expectations, and serves the fundamental interests of the countries involved.

Wang stressed the importance of upholding equality, respect, and mutual benefit, urging both sides to translate the consensus reached by their respective heads of state into actionable policies and practical measures. He called for both Washington and Beijing to collaborate and make continuous efforts in the same direction.

Furthermore, Wang proposed extending the cooperation list, creating more positive agendas while simultaneously narrowing down areas of conflict and managing potential risks and hidden dangers. This call for cooperation comes after Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted US President Donald Trump in May, emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue and mutual understanding between the two nations.
