Cost of living in ?stanbul rises 64 percent in a year

The highest rise in June was in the price of meat, compared to last December. The price of meat and minced meat has risen 68.64 percent in the last six months. An Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA) study revealed that the cost of living in Istanbul increased 63.86 percent this month compared to the same month last year. The cost of living for a family of four was calculated at 35.380 (1356 US dollars) in the city as of June 2023 according to the "Cost of Living in Istanbul" study carried out by the agency.

The highest rise was in January this year, the study carried out by the agency established in February 2020 after Ekrem Imamoglu from the Republican People's Party (CHP) was elected the Major of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality shows.

According to the study, the monthly cost of living in the city increased 5.59 percent in the last month and 28.20 percent compared to December 2022.

Price of meat

The highest rise was in the price of meat when the current price was compared with the price last December. The price of meat increased 68.64 percent in the last six months.
