Costas Kadis hearing before European Parliament committee on November 6

The hearing for Cyprus' Commissioner-designate Costas Kadis for the portfolio of Fisheries and Oceans will be taking place on November 6th, according to the detailed schedule which was agreed by the Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament on Thursday. Kadis will appear in front of the committee on Fisheries (PECH) of the European Parliament at 14:30 local time (15:30 Cyprus time) on Wednesday November 6, with the committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) participating as an invited committee. Invited committees can set questions but their members cannot vote for the approval or rejection of a candidate. The hearings will take place between 4 and 7 November, as well as November 12 which is the day for the hearings for the six proposed executive vice presidents. On November 5, 6 and 12 there will be two simultaneous hearings in the morning (9:00 - 12:00), two in the afternoon (14:30 - 17:30) and two in the evening (18:30 - 21:30), while there will only be four hearings on Nov ember 4 and 7. Given that the candidates receive a positive evaluation, the President of the Conference of Presidents decides whether to close the hearings and forward the new College of Commissioners to be voted on in its entirety during the 25 - 28 November session in Strasbourg. The full schedule as decided by the Conference of President, along with the committees that will be conducting the hearings for each candidate, have been posted on https://www.europarl.europa.eu/resources/library/media/20241010RES24508/20241010RES24508.pdf .
