Istanbul: Turkish crypto trading platform BtcTurk addressed claims circulating on social media regarding a $30 million loss due to hacking, asserting that "all security measures have been taken."
According to Anadolu Agency, BtcTurk disclosed that on August 14, they detected unusual activities in their hot wallets during a routine security check. In response to these findings, the platform temporarily suspended cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals as a precaution. These services will resume once the necessary security enhancements are completed.
BtcTurk assured its users that the majority of assets are safely stored in "secure cold wallets," and emphasized that the platform's robust financial structure ensures that user assets remain unaffected by the incident. They also confirmed that buying and selling transactions, as well as Turkish lira deposits and withdrawals, continue without disruption.
The platform underscored that detailed investigations are ongoing, and they have notified official authorities. BtcTurk expressed gratitude for users' understanding and committed to providing updates as the situation develops.
