Cypriot FM carries out visits to Athens and London

Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos will carry out visits in Athens and London for contacts with its Greek and British counterparts and other officials.

According to an official press release, Kombos departs today for Athens where tomorrow will hold a working breakfast with the ambassadors of EU member-states accredited in Cyprus based in Athens, while he will later meet non-EU ambassadors based in Athens accredited in Cyprus.

'In both meetings Dr Kombos will carry out a briefing over the initiative of the Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides for a more active EU involvement in the efforts for a solution to the Cyprus problem, as well as on a series of issues on the EU and international agenda,' the press release says

The same day at noon, the Cypriot FM will attend a working lunch with his Greek counterpart, Vassilis Kaskarelis in the context of the ongoing cooperation and coordination between Greece and Cyprus. According to the Greek Foreign Ministry, the two ministers will focus on developments in the Cyprus problem and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region, as well as on a number of international and regional issues.

On Thursday, the Cypriot Minister will travel London for a two-day working visit.

Kombos will begin his contacts in the British capital with a separate meeting with the president of the all-party committee for Cyprus in the House of Commons Sir Sir Roger Gale and with Alicia Kearns, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee. He will also meet with members of the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK.

On Friday, Kombos will meet with the British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly followed by a working lunch with Shadow Minister for Europe Stephen Doughty.

The Minister returns to Cyprus in Friday.
