Cyprus and Austrian Standards Organisations sign MoU

The Cyprus Standards Organisation (CYS) announced on Thursday the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on standardisation with the Austrian National Standards Organisation (ASI), in the framework of the General Assemblies of the European Standardisation Organisations CEN and CENELEC, which took place in Amsterdam between 26 and 27 June. As stated, the cooperation between the two organizations dates back to 2012, when the first Memorandum of Cooperation between them was signed, which started with their joint participation in the CEN Administrative and Technical Bodies, where in several cases good practices were shared for use in various sectors, while later the cooperation was strengthened with topics drawn from, among others, the construction and services sector, certifiable standards and environmental concerns. According to the CYS, the revised and updated MoU will support an Action Plan to be agreed and activated soon and will consist of actions and common practices to be co-decided, some of w hich will be headed for implementation through funded European research and development programmes. The Memorandum was signed by CYS Director General Athena Panayiotou and ASI Director General Dr. Valerie Hollinger, the statement concluded. Source: Cyprus News Agency
