Cyprus Deputy Alexandra Attalides is travelling to Montreal on Friday, to participate in the 49th Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie which is hosted by the Parliament of Canada, between July 5 and 9. A House press release said that during the Session, the House of Representative's inclusion, with the status of an associated member, to the Assembly will be announced, following a request by the President of Cyprus Parliament Annita Demetriou to the President of the Assembly Francis Drouin. The Presidents of the Senate and the House of Representatives of Canada, Raymonde Gagné and Greg Fergus, will address the Summit and the participants will have an exchange of views with the Secretary General of the International Organization of Francophonie Louise Mushikiwado, ?n current political issues and issues concerning the Organization. Attalides will attend the proceedings of the Plenary Session of the Assembly, during which a debate will be held on the subject of "Artificial Intelligence and parliamentarism". She will also participate in a session of the Women's Network of the Assembly of the Francophonie, during which issues related to equality and women's rights, the prevention of violence against women and the gender budget will be discussed. The participants will also discuss reports on the protection of women and girls in conflict, combating human trafficking and women's property rights. Source: Cyprus News Agency
