Darwin Nunez’s Late Double Lifts Liverpool Over Brentford 2-0


Liverpool: Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez’s late double fire brought Liverpool a 2-0 win Saturday against Brentford in an English Premier League week 22 match. The Reds’ 25-year-old forward scored in two minutes, in the 91st and 93rd minute, to bring victory to the visitors at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium. Brentford’s Cameroonian winger Bryan Mbeumo managed to create several dangerous positions for Liverpool but could not finish. Liverpool cemented their top spot with 50 points and one more match to play, while Brentford is in the 11th spot with 28 points.



According to Anadolu Agency, Aston Villa managed to draw 2-2 with Arsenal in a Premier League week 22 match. Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli drew first blood with a shot from close range in the 35th minute at Emirates Stadium. German attacker Kai Havertz made it 2-0 for the hosts in the 55th minute. Five minutes later, Aston Villa’s Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans took one back with a header. English forward Ollie Watkins equalized with a right-footed shot from very close range in the 68th minute. Havertz put another one into the net but the goal was overturned by a Video Assistant Referee call in the 89th minute. Arsenal are in the second spot with 44 points. Aston Villa is seventh with 36 points.



Justin Kluivert gave an important 4-1 victory to Bournemouth against Newcastle United with a hat-trick in another match. The Dutch attacker scored in the sixth, 44th and 92nd minutes for the visitors at St. James’ Park. Hungarian defender added insult to injury for the hosts with his late goal in the 96th minute. Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes tallied the only goal of Newcastle in the 25th minute. Newcastle United is fourth in the standings with 38 points, while Bournemouth climbed to sixth with 37 points.
