Death Toll from Dammam Airport Attack Increases to Two

Dammam:The death toll from the recent attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, has risen to two, with eight others injured, the country's civil aviation authority reported on Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed an additional fatality, identifying the deceased as a Saudi citizen and an Indian national.

The injured include one Saudi citizen, two Indian nationals, two Yemenis, two Bangladeshis, and one Nepalese national, with injuries ranging from minor to severe. These individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at various hospitals. Despite the attack, airport operations have resumed, and air traffic is back to normal.

GACA further stated that it is working with security authorities to assess the damage and implement measures to ensure the safety of passengers, workers, and the kingdom's civil aviation system. The authority did not disclose the specifics of the attack.

On Wednesday, Saudi Arabia's Energy Ministry reported that debris from an intercepted drone targeting an Aramco facility at the Shaybah oil field resulted in two deaths and injuries to two others. The debris also ignited a fire in a contractor's vehicle, although operations at the oil field were not disrupted. Additionally, the Saudi-led coalition intercepted and destroyed five drones aimed at the kingdom, including those targeting the Eastern Province and Medina region.

The attack on King Fahd International Airport follows a previous incident on October 11, which led to damage assessments and safety checks. These events occur amid increasing tensions between Yemen's Houthi group and the Saudi-led coalition, with multiple attacks targeting Saudi airports and energy facilities.
