Death Toll from Houthi Missile Attack in Yemen’s Hodeidah Rises to 3: Yemeni Forces

Hodeidah: Yemen's government-aligned National Resistance Forces (NRF) announced that the death toll from a Houthi ballistic missile attack on the Al-Khawkhah district in the southern Hodeidah province has risen to three. This update was provided in a brief statement by the NRF-linked '2 December' news agency.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Houthi attack reportedly involved two ballistic missiles and resulted in the deaths of three civilians, including a child. Earlier reports by the NRF indicated that two farmers were among those killed in the attack. However, Yemen's Ansar Allah group, commonly referred to as the Houthis, has yet to issue a comment regarding the NRF's claims.

In 2014, the Iran-backed Houthis overran significant portions of Yemen, including the capital, Sanaa. This led to several years of war between the Houthis and Yemeni government forces, which are supported by a Saudi-led coalition.

Since the outbreak of the Israel-Gaza conflict in 2023, the Houthis have increased their regional involvement, conducting missile attacks on Israel and commercial shipping linked to Israel in the Red Sea. The recent escalation in hostilities, alongside the ongoing Iran-United States conflict, has heightened concerns about a potential return to full-scale warfare in the already struggling Gulf nation.
