The workers of the electricity distribution company in southeast Turkey declare that they will continue the walkout if their demands are not met. Dicle Electricity Distribution Inc. (DEDAS) workers in the maintenance department walked out today in all the affiliated units in six cities.
Mezopotamya Agency reported that the following are the demands of the workers that downed the tools in Urfa, Diyarbakir, Mardin, Batman, Sirnak, and Siirt:
Becoming unionized,
A net salary that is 80 percent higher than the minimum wage,
One salary of premium every six months,
The bank promotion payments to be made
The promotions for the religious holidays to be paid,
Exhaustion compensation
Fees to be paid for transportation and meals in the amounts that are set officially,
Wage increase in overtime, 15 percent pay rise for the night shift.
A thousand workers demonstrate in Diyarbakir
DEDAS Diyarbakir maintenance workers met in front of the company headquarters during their walkout.
Nearly a thousand workers joined the action and chanted “We are workers, we are right, we will win.” The company representatives invited representatives of the workers inside the headquarters in order to meet but the workers requested that the officials meet with their representatives outside.
MP visits workers in Urfa
In Urfa, Green and Left Party Urfa MP Ferit Senyasar visited the workers organizing a sit-in in front of the DEDAS building.
Some company officers sent messages to the workers stating that some of their demands have been met. The workers did not accept the wage improvement that do not reflect their demands and announced that they will continue their action.
