Defence Minister tells CNA of ‘productive discussion’ with Cypriot diaspora

Minister of Defence, Vasilis Palmas, spoke of a "substantive and productive" discussion with the Cypriot diaspora in statements to CNA. He was replying to a CNA question after the end of the session of the Central Council of the Global Coordination Committee of the Cyprus Struggle (PSEKA), on Thursday afternoon in Nicosia. During the session, which was closed to the public, the Central Council of PSEKA was briefed on defence matters by the Minister of Defence and National Guard Chief, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas. "Together with the Chief of the National Guard, we informed the expatriates about matters concerning the National Guard and the Ministry of Defence," said Palmas, noting that "a thorough, substantive and productive discussion" took place with the compatriots of the diaspora, for which he expressed his full satisfaction. "We gave them the opportunity to be informed about various programmes and actions concerning the Ministry of Defence and the National Guard," the competent Minister w ent on to say, adding that they took questions and listened to concerns. Replying to an additional question on the matter, Palmas referred to programmes concerning bilateral, trilateral and quadrilateral activities of the Ministry of Defence with friendly countries, as well as armament programmes concerning the country's defence.
