Austin: Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell and his wife Susan Dell have announced a significant philanthropic initiative aimed at supporting the future financial security of American children. The couple revealed their plan to donate $6.25 billion to the investment accounts of 25 million children aged 10 and under across the United States.
According to Anadolu Agency, this donation is part of the Invest America initiative, a bipartisan, federally backed program that provides every American child under 18 with access to a tax-advantaged investment account from birth. These accounts can be activated and contributed to by families over time and are designed to grow with market returns.
Each eligible child will receive $250 from the Dells' donation. In addition to this, starting next year, the US Treasury will contribute $1,000 to Invest America accounts for every child born on or after January 1, 2025. The program aims to be straightforward and secure, ensuring the accounts increase in value over time.
The statement from the Dells also mentioned that if funds remain after the registration process, older children may also become eligible for support, thereby expanding the initiative's reach and impact.
