Dhaka: Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka, India’s capital New Delhi, and Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City have been identified as the top three urban areas with the most polluted air globally. This information was revealed through daily weather data on Tuesday.
According to Anadolu Agency, Dhaka recorded the worst air quality at 8.33 a.m. (1433GMT) on Tuesday, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 239. Ho Chi Minh City ranked second with an AQI score of 214, while New Delhi followed closely at third with a score of 198. The AQI is used to measure pollution levels in a city’s air, indicating potential health risks for residents and ranging between zero and 500-the higher the number, the greater the pollution and health impact.
AirVisual, an independent provider of global air pollution figures, has advised residents in the affected cities to avoid outdoor exercise, keep windows closed to prevent exposure to polluted outdoor air, wear masks outdoors, and use air purifiers if possible.
