El-fasher: Doctors Without Borders (MSF) on Sunday called on the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied armed groups to immediately allow civilians to leave Sudan's El-Fasher city as conditions in the North Darfur capital are deteriorating, with abuses against residents escalating.

According to Anadolu Agency, Michel Olivier Lacharite, MSF head of emergencies, emphasized the urgency of the situation in a statement published by the organization on US social media company X. He urged the RSF and allied armed groups to spare civilians and allow them to flee the city. Lacharite also called on the members of the quad-the US, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt-to leverage their influence to halt the violence in El-Fasher.

The organization has stated it is closely monitoring the situation, warning the international community that it cannot ignore the deepening humanitarian crisis in the region. On October 26, the RSF seized control of El-Fasher, committing massacres against civilians, according to local and international organizations. The assault could potentially entrench the geographical partition of Sudan, raising alarms among observers.

Since April 15, 2023, the Sudanese army and the RSF have been embroiled in a conflict that regional and international efforts have failed to resolve. The ongoing war has resulted in 20,000 deaths and displaced over 15 million people, both as refugees and internally displaced persons, as reported by UN and local sources.
