ISTANBUL: The Dow Jones industrial average hit a fresh record on Thursday, while the US stocks were mixed. The blue-chip index, which includes 30 prominent American companies, rose 93 points, or 0.23%, to reach 41,291 at 10.34 a.m. EDT (1434GMT). The S and P 500, meanwhile, added just two points, or 0.03%, to remain almost flat at 5,590. The Nasdaq, on the other hand, was down 44 points, or 0.25%, to 17,952 at the time. The tech-heavy index posted Wednesday its worst daily performance since December 2022 by plummeting 512 points, or 2.77%. The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 1.1% to 14.62. The 10-year US Treasury yield added 0.6% to 4.167%. The dollar index increased 0.23% to 103.98 while the euro decreased 0.22% to $1.0913 against the greenback. Precious metals were mixed, with gold adding 0.22% to $2,464 per ounce but silver declining 0.4% to $30.17.
