Ras tanura: Saudi Arabia said Monday that debris from the interception of two drones caused limited damage at the Ras Tanura oil refinery on the country's eastern coast. 'Fragments fell at 7:04 a.m. local time near the refinery in Ras Tanura, causing minor damage and sparking a small fire,' the Energy Ministry said in a statement.

According to Anadolu Agency, emergency crews quickly contained the blaze. No injuries were reported. Authorities temporarily shut down some operational units at the refinery as a precaution. The ministry added that supplies of oil and petroleum products to domestic markets were not affected.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region. The US and Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran on Saturday, killing several top Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran launched a series of drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, US assets, and several Gulf countries.

This escalation follows an earlier wave of attacks initiated by Tel Aviv and Washington in June last year, which triggered a 12-day war before a ceasefire was announced.
