Ankara: Egypt and Greece have launched the Medusa-15 joint military exercise, the Egyptian army announced Tuesday. The training, which will span several days, is taking place in the Mediterranean Sea and at several Greek air bases.
According to Anadolu Agency, the exercise involves naval, air, air defense, reconnaissance, and special forces units from both countries, including paratroopers and commandos. Additionally, forces from France, Italy, and the Greek Cypriot administration are participating in the exercise.
The training commenced with Egyptian and Greek naval forces performing a passage exercise while en route to Greece. This was accompanied by theoretical and practical pre-training activities aimed at unifying combat concepts and exchanging expertise among the participating countries.
The drill is designed to include various activities related to managing naval and air combat operations against different threats. The exercise will also feature live-fire activities and training to address unconventional threats, showcasing the advanced training and professionalism of the participating forces.
The Medusa military exercise series between Egypt and Greece first began in December 2015.
