Al-alamein: Egypt and Qatar are coordinating daily to reduce regional tensions and bolster diplomatic efforts, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said Thursday. Abdelatty made the remarks at a joint news conference with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar's prime minister and foreign minister, in Egypt's coastal city of Al-Alamein.

According to Anadolu Agency, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of adhering to international laws governing maritime navigation, condemning Iranian attacks on Qatar and other Gulf states as 'blatant violations' of national sovereignty. He stated that the security of Qatar and the sisterly Gulf states is an integral part of Egyptian and Arab national security.

Cairo's top diplomat also highlighted an agreement between Egypt and Qatar that Red Sea security is a shared responsibility of the states bordering the waterway. Sheikh Mohammed, on his part, stressed the necessity of maintaining navigation through the Hormuz Strait by restoring pre-conflict conditions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.

Sheikh Mohammed further condemned the exploitation of the strategic waterway for 'blackmail' purposes, noting the severe consequences of the ongoing regional war for the Gulf and globally. He called for a return to conditions prior to the conflict, condemning 'threats and obstacles' impacting navigation through the Hormuz Strait.
