New York:Egypt has urged an end to Israeli violations against Palestinians and firmly rejected any attempts to forcibly displace the population from the Gaza Strip or the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
According to Anadolu Agency, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly addressed the 81st UN General Assembly, emphasizing the need for the Gaza ceasefire to be fully implemented, the halt of Israeli violations, and the completion of withdrawal. He advocated for sustained humanitarian access, early recovery and reconstruction, and a political process addressing the conflict's roots.
Madbouly stressed that peace cannot be achieved by uprooting people from their land and warned that regional stability is unattainable while Palestinian suffering persists and the occupation continues. He reaffirmed Egypt's support for an independent, sovereign, and geographically contiguous Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He urged the international community to protect civilians, reject collective punishment, and uphold international humanitarian law. Discussing regional security, he noted that no state could secure itself at the expense of its neighbors and condemned attacks on other countries and threats to shipping, trade, and energy routes.
Madbouly highlighted Egypt's water security as an 'existential issue,' cautioning against unilateral actions on shared water resources and underscoring the need for binding agreements under international law. He asserted that development by one party should not harm others and indicated Egypt's intent to protect its water security under international law.
Additionally, Madbouly reiterated Cairo's support for Sudan's unity and state institutions amid ongoing conflict. He also called for comprehensive reform of the UN Security Council to address Africa's underrepresentation and advocated for a Middle East free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction.
