Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Saturday rejected attempts to divide countries in the region or undermine the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. Speaking during a ceremony marking the 74th anniversary of Egypt’s Police Day, Sisi emphasized Cairo’s stance against efforts to fragment regional states or establish militias and parallel entities that operate outside national armies and institutions.

According to Anadolu Agency, President Sisi highlighted Egypt’s commitment to ensuring the full implementation of the Gaza ceasefire deal, which took effect on October 10. He expressed concerns over any attempts to circumvent the agreement and reiterated Egypt’s dedication to thwarting such efforts. Additionally, Sisi firmly opposed any initiatives aimed at forcibly displacing the Palestinian people from their land.

The situation in Gaza remains dire, as the Israeli army has reportedly killed over 71,600 people, predominantly women and children, and injured more than 171,300 individuals since October 2023. Despite the ceasefire that began on October 10, Israeli attacks have persisted, resulting in the deaths of 477 Palestinians and injuries to 1,300 more, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
