Elon Musk Awaits Pakistani Government’s Nod for Starlink Launch

Islamabad: Billionaire Elon Musk confirmed Saturday that Starlink applied to launch internet services in Pakistan but was "waiting for approval from the government." This announcement was in response to a post by a Pakistani netizen, Sanam Jamali, who expressed that Starlink internet services could propel Pakistan "into the future, where every citizen has the chance to connect and grow." Jamali urged Musk to make Starlink a "bridge to tomorrow" for the nation. According to Anadolu Agency, Jamali, in a subsequent post tagging Musk, claimed that Pakistan had "approved Starlink." She emphasized the urgency to bring the transformative internet service to the nation, highlighting the millions who await the connectivity, education, and opportunities that Starlink could offer. Jamali requested Musk to expedite the launch of Starlink in Pakistan. Musk's confirmation of his intention to launch Starlink in Pakistan comes at a critical time as the South Asian nation topped the list of countries most affected by intern et outages in 2024.
