Epstein Abuse Survivors Report Death Threats Amid Release of Files

New york: A group of survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's sexual abuse said they are receiving death threats as the date nears for the release of files concerning the late convicted sex offender. Epstein's survivors have demanded accountability and legal support to face their abusers and get justice.

According to Anadolu Agency, the survivors issued a statement titled 'What we're bracing for,' indicating that many have already received death threats and are preparing for these threats to escalate. They have called on federal and state law enforcement agencies to investigate and provide protection.

The statement further cautioned against attempts to blame the victims for their own or each other's abuse. It highlighted how Epstein previously portrayed them negatively to avoid accountability and expressed concern that his enablers might use similar tactics now.

The survivors are demanding full disclosure of all files related to Epstein, with the exception of redacting victim names. They urged their supporters in Congress and the public to ensure the release of all materials, fearing selective disclosure might occur. The statement also criticized arguments suggesting that victims over the age of 18 were not genuine victims, emphasizing the vulnerabilities many faced due to various life circumstances.

In a significant move, US President Donald Trump signed a bill requiring the Justice Department to release all files related to Epstein. This followed unanimous approval in the Senate after weeks of political debate on the extent of disclosure. The release of these files could implicate high-profile individuals across politics, entertainment, and business.

Epstein was found dead in his New York City jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial. He had previously pleaded guilty and was convicted in 2008 of procuring a minor for prostitution.
