Ashgabat: Trkiye is committed to promoting peace and dialogue, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday as he addressed an international forum in Turkmenistan. 'As Trkiye, we are working with all our strength-guided by the sense of responsibility instilled by our history, geography and civilization-to ensure that peace and dialogue prevail,' Erdogan said at the International Peace and Trust Forum in Ashgabat.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan highlighted Ankara's readiness to support diplomatic initiatives aimed at securing a ceasefire and peace, including efforts related to the Russia-Ukraine war. He addressed the situation in the Middle East, expressing concern over the fragility of the October ceasefire in Gaza and underscoring the need for sustained international backing to maintain stability.

Erdogan also expressed optimism that UN Security Council Resolution 2800 would pave the way for lasting peace and the reconstruction of Gaza. He stressed the importance of Palestinian involvement in all peace processes, advocating for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

The forum, organized in recognition of the UN's designation of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, gathered regional leaders and international delegates. Erdogan acknowledged Turkmenistan's progress since achieving independence and reaffirmed Ankara's commitment to bolstering bilateral ties in various sectors, including energy, trade, investment, and defense.

Additionally, Erdogan pointed to Trkiye's broader diplomatic initiatives, mentioning its mediation efforts between Ethiopia and Somalia. 'Peace is only possible with justice, trust only with mutual respect, and stability only with dialogue and cooperation,' he concluded.
