Brussels: European Union member states have reached a political agreement to classify Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.
According to Anadolu Agency, the bloc’s foreign policy chief announced the decision, emphasizing that repression cannot go unanswered. Kaja Kallas, the chief foreign policy representative, shared the news on the US social media platform X, following discussions among EU foreign ministers in Brussels.
The decision comes amid mounting tensions between the EU and Iran, with the designation reflecting the bloc’s stance on Iran’s internal and external policies. As the EU continues to navigate its relationship with Iran, this designation marks a significant step in its foreign policy strategy.
