Paris: The French prime minister has expressed strong disapproval of the recent trade agreement between the European Union and the United States, describing it as a "dark day" for Europe, indicating the bloc's perceived "submission."

According to Anadolu Agency, the US and the EU have concluded a trade deal that imposes a 15% tariff, as announced by US President Donald Trump after discussions with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Scotland. This agreement comes after a period of prolonged uncertainty, with prior threats from Washington suggesting a potential tariff rate of 30%.

As a condition of the agreement, the European Union has committed to investing $600 billion in the United States. Concurrently, the EU will procure $750 billion worth of US energy and military equipment.
