The aeronautical exercise “EUNOMIA” gets underway on Thursday for the fifth consecutive year as part of the Quadrilateral Cooperation (QUAD) – EUNOMIA’ (Greece – Cyprus – Italy – France), aiming to enhance security and stability in the broader region and ensure freedom of navigation.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Defence said that the exercise “EUNOMIA 5 – 2024” is coordinated by Greece and will be conducted in the sea and airspace of the Eastern Mediterranean from September 12 to 18, 2024.

The purpose of the exercise is to improve mutual understanding and operational interoperability of the participating naval and air forces.

The cooperation among the four countries demonstrates their collective intention and commitment to implementing the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and Customary International Law, the press release said.

During the exercise, naval and air drills will take place, covering areas such as maritime interdiction, anti-aircraft operations, surface and anti-submarine warfare, operatio
ns against asymmetric threats, search and rescue operations, as well as the tactical aspect of civilian evacuation operations and a cyber warfare exercise, the press release noted.
