Warsaw: Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized the importance of the transatlantic relationship between Europe and the United States, asserting that Europe has the right to expect the US to prioritize this community. Speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, Tusk highlighted the mutual expectations between the two regions, noting that just as the US can request greater involvement from Europe, Europe can expect the US to consider the transatlantic community a top priority.
According to Anadolu Agency, Tusk elaborated on the evolving understanding of security threats in the 21st century. He pointed out that there is now a "clearer understanding" of these threats and that security is being approached in a "smarter, broader and more intensive" manner. The prime minister stressed the importance of continuous efforts to ensure security, given that peace is not a permanent guarantee.
Tusk also expressed solidarity with Ukraine, describing the ongoing conflict as "our war." He called upon public opinion leaders to recognize the reality of the war, which he described as unwanted and of a new kind, urging leaders to abandon illusions and face the facts. He reiterated that peace should not be taken for granted, emphasizing the need for vigilance and proactive measures to maintain security.
